Notre Dame Global Missions

Making a WORLD of difference!

INDIA: In 1949 we began a mission in India. Now, more than 60 years later, we have more than 270 Indian Sisters who carry out the mission work in their own country. Their work includes all forms of education, health care, social work, and spirituality. They place a special emphasis on the empowerment of women and girls. Our Indian missionaries touch thousands of lives each day.

Our Missions

AFRICA: We minister in two locations in Kenya and three in Tanzania. Our Sisters are active in primary and secondary schools, Zinduka Women’s Center, and the Notre Dame Formation Center. We also offer non-formal education opportunities and outreach for those affected by HIV/AIDS.

NICARAGUA: At the invitation of Bishop Carlos Enrique Herrera, the Sisters of Notre Dame began a mission in Nicaragua on July 26, 2008. Four American Sisters went to Jinotega to minister in the parish of Sangre de Cristo. They accompany the people in order to discover their needs, especially revitalizing catechesis, empowering women, and finding ways to improve their economic condition.
